Training workshop on HPAI in Libya

Tunis, 12 June, The FAO Sub-Regional Office for North Africa is organizing as part of the Emergency Assistance for the Control of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in poultry and other domestic birds in Libya (TCP/LIB/3501) a workshop on "Strengthening capacities to respond to emergencies in animal health». The workshop’s program for the week includes: - A simulation exercise to respond to highly pathogenic avian influenza in order to assess preparedness of the Libyan veterinary authorities to respond to HPAI suspicion and outbreaks and formulate recommendations to address gaps. - Presentation and discussion of the Libyan strategy for prevention and control of HPAI.

- Presentation and discussion of the study for the creation of the Emergency Fund for Animal Health.

- Presentation of the final results of the project including value chain analysis and epidemiological surveillance of HPAI.
