Analysis of legal frameworks on school feeding: El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua

Authors: Luisa Cruz and Jorge Ulises González B.

Right to Food Study, 2016.

Based on the assumption that school feeding links a multiplicity of legal areas that should not necessarily be covered in a single legal instrument, the Analysis of legal frameworks on school feeding: El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, identifies a list of regulatory objectives that need to be regulated in order to have a comprehensive legal framework in this topic. The study brings an analysis and an overview of the existing legislation in the region and it also presents a methodology for the assessment of such legal frameworks.

The publication was developed under the legal component of the project that supports the Hunger-Free Latin America and the Caribbean Initiative (GCP/RLA/160/SPA), named: Strengthening the legal frameworks to achieve food security and nutrition, financed by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and implemented by FAO’s Legal Office in collaboration with the Right to Food Team and FAO’s Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean.
