Food is a basic human right. However, 690 million people still suffer from chronic hunger. Our challenge is to ensure the right to food for everyone, everywhere. Plants are part of the solution. Plants make up 80% of the food we eat. As such, they are critical for safeguarding food security, or the ongoing access to sufficient, affordable, safe and nutritious food for us all to live active and healthy lives. But plant health is increasingly at risk. Every year up to 40% of global food crops are lost due to plant pests. Governments and stakeholders can take action to empower the most vulnerable and protect plant health.
