| The present report suggests a number of improvements aimed at ensuring that the Organization devotes its attention to the priorities fixed by the Member States and that the Secretariat gives better service. However the intergovernmental organs must also change. The General Assembly and the Economic and Social Council both need to adapt in order to realize their potential while the stalled process of Security Council reform needs new impetus. The work programme of the Organization as a whole should be better focused with fewer but more productive meetings and fewer but more useful documents. |
