| Human Rights and Poverty Reduction Strategy |
| The project's long-term objective is to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of poverty reduction strategies. Its short-term objective is to provide practitioners involved in the design of poverty reduction strategies with operational guidelines. Because it is widely accepted that poverty reduction strategies must be 'country-owned' the project aims to prepare operational guidelines for those states that may wish to integrate human rights into their poverty reduction strategies. This Discussion Paper identifies some of the key conceptual and practical issues that arise from the integration of human rights into poverty reduction strategies. The aim of this Discussion Paper is to generate ideas and focus issues with a view to informing a genuine process of consultation. |
