Bread for all launches Right to Food Campaign
Bread for all (BFA), the Swiss Protestant churches’ development agency, and the organisations "Fastenopfer" and "Partner sein", announce the theme of their 2008 oecumenical campaign “The Right to Food—More than a modest Wish” (“Damit das Recht auf Nahrung kein frommer Wunsch bleibt”). The annual campaign, organised during the fasting period before Easter, addresses development policy issues. The goals of the campaign are to increase awareness, stimulate public discussion about north-south issues, to express solidarity with the poor and to raise funds for development policy campaigns and projects in third world countries. This year’s campaign will be launched on Sunday, 10 February and will end on Sunday, 23 March 2008. Issues to be discussed under the Right to Food theme are access to land as one of the key elements necessary for eradicating hunger in the world, and the link between rural poverty and extreme inequality in access to land.
