The FAO-Russian Federation cooperation comprises support to a wide array of development initiatives in the region and around the world. What was already a strong partnership took a further step forward in 2015 with the opening of an FAO Liaison Office in Moscow.

The following priority areas have been identified for cooperation between the Russian Federation and FAO: Food security; Agriculture, including knowledge sharing and technical assistance in areas such as land resources, animal health, plant protection and agricultural machinery; Forestry and fisheries subsectors; Food safety; Participation in the Codex Alimentarius Commission.

FAO in collaboration with the Higher School of Economics (HSE-University) organize “Gender Responsive Agricultural аnd Food Systems’ Policies: Status аnd Prospects in Europe аnd Central Asia Region” webinar on Wednesday,

10 March 2021 | 15:00-17:00 (Moscow time)


The webinar is part of the Regional Dialogue in the preparation for the UN Food Systems Summit. Women, especially in rural areas, play a critical role in sustaining food systems. During a virtual session, participants will discuss current issues in agriculture and food systems policies and their connection to gender inequalities in rural areas in the region.

All-Russian Journalism Competition “Human. Forest. Climate”

With the support of the FAO Liaison Office with the Russian Federation, a creative contest for journalists  “Human. Forest. Climate” – for the best written piece and video material on human influence on natural ecosystems, climate change, and forest conservation has been launched.

The main prize in the nominations "Best Article" and "Best Video Material" is participation in the XV World Forestry Congress, which will be held in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

The jury will review articles and videos published/broadcast in the time period from December 22, 2020 to May 1, 2021 in duly registered Russian media outlets only.
