In response to the continuing call of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) for case studies documenting good practices for SARD, various organizations, both governmental and non-governmental, have collected relevant information and established online databases to disseminate it. An inventory of these databases has been prepared by the SARD Initiative. Highlights and links for Good Practice Databases of governments are presented here.
European Commission's LIFE-Environment Database
LIFE is the Financial Instrument for the Environment. It was launched in 1992 and is one of the spearheads of Community environment policy. LIFE contributes to the implementation, development and enhancement of the Community environmental policy and legislation as well as the integration of the environment into other EU policies. LIFE also supports the development of new solutions to environmental problems facing the EU. The LIFE Projects database provides information about more than 2500 ongoing and completed LIFE projects and the best practices they have developed or are developing.
Guyana SARD Network: South South Transfer of Innovative Experiences on SARD
This project was an initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Guyana. It was implemented by the Guyana Office of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and financed by the Perez-Guerrero Trust Fund (through UNDP) and IICA. Profiles of the good practice cases assembled by the Guyana SARD network are accessible on the project website.
InfoAgrar: A Swiss Database of SARD Projects Worldwide
InfoAgrar is the agricultural information and documentation service of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. It maintains a global database of SARD projects, which can be accessed by region, by topic, by title or by history.
