Good Practice Databases of the UN and the World Bank
In response to the continuing call of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) for case studies documenting good practices for SARD, various organizations, both governmental and non-governmental, have collected relevant information and established online databases to disseminate it. An inventory of these databases has been prepared by the SARD Initiative. Highlights and links for Good Practice Databases of the UN and the World Bank are presented here.

UN-CSD Success Stories

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Division of Sustainable Development collected stories from multiple stakeholders from 1997-2001 related to topics on the Agenda of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD).

United Nations' Best Practices Database in Improving the Living Environment

This database is a joint product of UN-HABITAT and The Together Foundation. It contains proven solutions to common social, economic and environmental problems of an urbanizing and globalizing world. Over 2150 proven solutions from 140 countries demonstrate practical ways in which public, private and civil society sectors are working together to improve governance, eradicate poverty, provide housing, land and basic social services, protect the environment and support economic and urban development.

World Bank Indigenous Knowledge Database

This database includes over 300 case studies on indigenous/traditional knowledge and practices. It can be searched by country, sector (agriculture, environment and telecommunication, etc.), domain (energy, education, etc.), technology (intellectual property rights, farming systems, conflict resolution, etc.) and general keywords.
