AgriFor is a gateway to quality Internet resources that have been evaluated in the fields of agriculture, food and forestry. It is aimed at students, researchers, academics and practitioners in agriculture, food or forestry.

AGRIS (International Information System for the Agricultural Science and Technology, FAO)

AGRIS is the international information system for the agricultural sciences and technology. It was created by FAO in 1974 to facilitate information exchange and to identify world literature dealing with all aspects of agriculture. AGRIS is a cooperative system in which participating countries input references to the literature produced within their boundaries and, in return, draw on the information provided by the other participants. To date, 240 national, international and intergovernmental centres participate.

Centre d’information sur l’eau agricole et ses usages (CISEAU)

Ciseau is an initiative promoting experience sharing and knowledge networking for sustainable development of irrigation in developing countries. The project’s objective is to evaluate the potential use of new technology to gather, disseminate and uptake knowledge about the interactions between water and soil resource use, and to improve information exchange between professionals in charge of rural development.

This is a gateway to information on development issues, providing free and easy access to a wide range of high quality online resources. It offers access to 15,680 online documents, 4,500 organizations, and 15,000 email messages. It is funded by DANIDA, NORAD and SIDA.

FIGIS (Fisheries Global Information System, FAO)

FIGIS was conceived in the context of great stress on most major fishery resources and a worldwide concern about the state of the resources and some of their non-sustainable uses. For yet under-utilised stocks, the risk of over-utilization is amplified by globalisation of trade in fish and fishery products. FIGIS was established to address the need for reliable, high-quality and relevant information on the state of world fisheries.

WAICENT (World Agricultural Information Centre, FAO)

This is a web-based information platform which enables FAO member countries to access agricultural information essential to achieve food security and sustainable rural development. This Web site directory provides links to approximately 250 main sites and a series of information tools to enable access to FAO’s information base.
