SARD Mountain Project

1-3 October 2007: Third meeting of the Adelboden Group.
Approximately 80 representatives from governments, civil society and international organizations from various mountainous countries around the world met for the third time on 1-3 October 2007 at FAO Headquarters, in Rome, to discuss on the SARD-M Project findings, the possible future of the Project and the Adelboden Group.

The meeting culminated with the adoption of a Statement of the Adelboden Group on SARD-Mountains, including commitments by the various stakeholders for the dissemination of the SARD-Mountains Project findings, networking and collaboration for the integration of the SARD-M approach.

October 2007: Framework for a Rapid Assessment of Policies, Institutions and Processes for SARD in Mountain Regions
A practical guide on how to conduct a rapid assessment of SARD-M policies, institutions and processes, including examples of assessment processes utilized by the project partners, is now available.

September 2007: Update of the SARD-M Project databases on policy-related documentation and organizations, programmes and projects.
A collection of 203 documents (policy studies, partners’ experiences, case studies, etc.) related to SARD-M policy issues as well as updated information on 111 organizations, programmes and projects are now available in the database of policy-related documentation and the database of organizations, programmes and projects developed since early 2005 by the SARD-M Project.

World Day Against Child Labour

12 June 2007: World Day Against Child Labour (WDACL)
A series of events were jointly organized by FAO, ILO, IFAD and other agencies. This year’s WDACL focussed on Agriculture and highlighted the magnitude of the social and economic costs of the worst forms of child labour in agriculture.
