CIHEAM-IAM in Bari has created an electronic platform to facilitate the exchange of information, communications and coordination between the stakeholders in the Mediterranean region working on sustainable agriculture and rural development issues. This platform also provides numerous resources, including reference papers.

The platform comprises a "mountain" component in continuity with the inter-Mediterranean meetings held at Tabarka in the framework of the SARD-M Project. It appears to have had a successful start, particularly in Morocco which held an electronic forum in April 2008-based specifically on this platform, supported by CIHEAM-IAM. The Moroccan participants decided to tighten up coordination in order to establish a full national partnership, and set in motion a powerful dynamic not only in Morocco but also in the whole Maghreb region. The SARD-M project is fully supporting these developments, placing them among its priorities.
