The Second Meeting of the Adelboden Group: a kick-off meeting for the SARD-M Project, 4-5 october 2004
The Adelboden Group met for the second time in Rome, Italy, on 4 and 5 October 2004. More than 80 participants from 30 countries representing governments, international organizations and civil society met in order to prioritize project activities for 2005, finalize financial and technical partnerships, discuss project implementation and decision-making mechanisms. The first meeting of the Adelboden Group took place in Rome, Italy, in September 2003. The meeting was followed on 6 October by a workshop organised by the Mountain Partnership to identify common priorities to both the SARD Partnership Initiative and the SARD-M Project. [more...]

International Mountain Day, 10-11 December 2004
The SARD-M Project celebrated the International Mountain Day promoted by the Mountain Partnership. Focusing on peace this year, the International Mountain Day recalled that many of the world’s conflicts occur in mountain regions. Mountain regions suffer disproportionately from the effects of conflict because they are often the poorest and least developed places in the world. Yet, peace is a pre-requisite to food security. 4th European Mountain Convention, 25-26 November 2004
The SARD-M Project team took part in the 4th European Mountain Convention at Rodez (France) on 25-26 November 2004, which was attended by 430 professionals representing agencies, technical institutions, local authorities and civil society organisations of the mountain territories of 21 European countries. Second Global Meeting of the Mountain Partnership, 28-29 October 2004
The SARD-M Project team participated in the Second Global Meeting of the Mountain Partnership at Cusco (Peru) on 28-29 October 2004, attended by 40 representatives of governments, international organisations and civil society organisations from all over the world. This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the future activities of the Mountain Partnership, as an international alliance intended to improve the livelihoods of the people and to protect mountain environments worldwide. Proceedings of the regional workshop on the evolution of agricultural systems, 13-15 July 2004
Some 40 delegates representing governments, international organisations and NGOs from Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Venezuela attended a regional workshop on the evolution of farming systems, organised by PASOLAC in conjunction with FAO SARD-FSE Project on 13-15 July 2004 in Honduras. Different agricultural systems were examined and proposals were made for innovative policies and strategies. [more...]
