Regional workshop in the Hindu Kush-Himalaya (17-18 July 2006, Kathmandu, Nepal)
Organized by ICIMOD, the Regional Focal Point for the Hindu Kush-Himalaya, this regional workshop has focused on the SARD-M policy assessments conducted in Bhutan, China (Sichuan), India (Sikkim) and Nepal.

The workshop was attended by representatives from government, civil society and international organizations involved in the formulation and implementation of policies for SARD in the region.

The objectives of the workshop were to:

• Share and discuss the findings of policy assessments conducted in 2005 and early 2006;
• Exchange experiences between countries in the analysis, formulation and implementation of SARD-M policies;
• Identify commonalities and specificities of policies, institutions and processes for SARD in mountain regions of the four case study countries;
• Produce recommendations and proposals for follow-up activities, based on the assessment findings and discussions held.
