During the 132nd Session of the FAO Council, a side event on “Decentralized Cooperation and Sustainable Mountain Development” was organized by FAO at the request of the Group of Latin America and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC).
The aims were to highlight the importance of promoting the territorial or local dimension for sustainable mountain development and the key role that local authorities from developed countries can play in this context, as well as re-affirm the importance of sustainable mountain development as part of FAO’s work and the need for continued political and financial commitment from member countries.
