The report presents the results of a multi-stakeholders survey coordinated by CIHEAM-IAM Bari in 2005 and 2006 for a preliminary assessment of the types of policies and policy packages, institutions and processes that are important to achieve SARD in Mediterranean mountain areas.

The report notably includes:

• ten country profiles summarizing the most significant information collected on SARD-M policies and strategies and providing a comparative analysis among different countries and regional areas involving the following countries: Albania, Serbia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Syria and Italy;
• twenty significant stories selected and analyzed by the country informants according to their contacts and linkages with institutions.
