Stefan Sieber supported SARD-related endeavours such as promoting:
• the process of writing the joint proposal on the SARD Initiative by establishing background administration (e.g. log-frame, work plan and budget plan).
• the task of composing the FAO-internal strategy paper for COAG 05 on the future SARD policy (Strategy of Action), accomplishments of SARD and FAO-guidance.
• arrangements for meetings with external counterparts (major groups), official governmental representatives (donors) and internal FAO-work units.
• and backstopping SARD-related issues regarding visiting representatives / partners (GTZ, CERFE etc.)
• the Major Group contribution’s to foster the SARD process by organising and requiring updates for internet presence, meetings and networking.
• the development of criteria and classification mechanisms to establish and implement an approach to build up a SARD-related ‘project data base’ for FAO-internal affairs.
• a comprehensive survey of world-wide development goals elaborated by relevant international organisations (WSSD, UN MDG, SARD Inventory, AGENDA 21-Chapter 14).
Stefan Sieber (stefan-sieber@gmx.de) holds a Ph.D. in agricultural and environmental economics. At present he is a project manager of SENSOR (www.sensor-ip.org) on behalf of the EU-Commission. His experience comprises both engagements in international research projects (4,5 years) and experiences with a number of NGO’s and governmental organizations in Latin America (2,5 years).
