As part of the SARD Initiative team, Sofia:

• Researched and wrote, in collaboration with several FAO officers, the SARD and Agricultural Trade Policy Brief.

• Chaired a conference call with CSD Major Group Focal Points.

• Participated in the 1st International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) conference on organic certification in Rome, Italy.

• Prepared the third issue of the SARD Initiative Newsletter and wrote and prepared the fourth issue.

• Took minutes and wrote the proceedings of the 1st Inter-Agency Consultation on Development of Policy Coherence on Child Labour in Agriculture, in Rome, Italy.

• Took minutes and produced the report of the SARD-FSE (Farming Systems Evolution) Project steering committee final meeting, which counted with the participation of representatives from donor and recipient governments, implementing agencies and project staff.

• Revised and edited 9 Good Practice case studies in Spanish and 2 in English. Liaised with submitting organisations to obtain missing information and finalise the case studies.

• Wrote a Good Practice case study on Participatory Guarantee Systems in Brazil.

• Was involved in the organisation, set-up and follow-up of various informal SARD seminars at FAO.

• Performed a wide range of other activities such as selection of volunteers, research for a number of documents, and various administrative tasks.

Currently Sofia is completing a PhD at Southampton University in the United Kingdom after being awarded a full scholarship by that institution
