LIFE food waste platform meeting to explore solutions for prevention

Budapest, Hungary / The LIFE food waste platform meeting, ‘Effective Solutions for Prevention and Treatment’ will take place in Budapest on 8-9 October 2018 at Hotel Benczúr.

About a third of all food produced globally for human consumption is lost or wasted, amounting to 1.3 billion tonnes per year according to the Food and Agriculture Organisation. This meeting sets out to shine a light on what can be done to tackle food waste at regional and national level, and thus contribute towards policy development in this area.

The meeting is being hosted by the National Food Chain Safety Office Hungary, the beneficiary of the project LIFE-FOODWASTEPREV (LIFE15 GIE/HU/001048). The Hungarian Agriculture Minister, Dr. István Nagy will welcome the participants and Dr Gyula Kasza of the national authority will give an overview of the Hungarian perspective at the meeting.
