In 2015, several international conferences and meetings are being planned by different organizations. The SAVE FOOD Initiative welcomes these events, as they keep the topic high on the political and institutional agenda and facilitate the exchange of best practices and lessons. At the end of 2015, a coherent joint report will be prepared, providing a global overview of the deliberations, findings and recommendations of these meetings. Read more...

The aim of the meeting is to encourage representatives from industry, academia and research, policy-makers and civil society to participate in the design and implementation of suitable pilot projects. Partners' actions


The SAVE FOOD Initiative will participate in the Food Bank Leadership Institute event from 16 to 19 March in Houston, Texas, United States of America. Together with staff of the Global FoodBanking Network, representatives of the food and grocery industry, and experts on global food security, participants will focus on their shared commitment to reducing hunger and food waste in their local communities through food banking.


SWEEP-Net

The Regional Solid Waste Exchange of Information and Expertise Network in Mashreq and Maghreb countries (SWEEP-Net) is pleased to announce that registration for its 5th Regional Forum, to be held in Tunis, Tunisia on April 14 to 16, is now open on the SWEEP-Net Web site.


Stop Wasting Food movement Denmark

At the Copenhagen Food Fair in February, Denmark’s Stop Wasting Food movement (Stop Spild Af Mad) and partners launched an initiative for redistributing surplus food at shelters for homeless and other vulnerable people.


GrainPro

GrainPro is working on an innovative programme in Nigeria to help smallholder maize farmers obtain better prices for their commodities.


Wageningen University and Research Centre Food & Biobased Research

Research commissioned by GreenPort Noord-Holland Noord and carried out by Wageningen University and Research Centre concludes that optimizing storage for pears would increase the fruit’s quality and lower energy consumption.
