The international conference on No More Food to Waste – Global Action to Stop Food Losses and Food Waste will be held in the Hague from 16 to 19 June 2015. Participants from the food system will be able to share their experiences and demonstrate combined actions, including through a high-level session on 18 June. In response to the urgency and scale of food security and nutrition challenges facing the region, the FAO Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa, the Secretariat of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) and the World Food Programme (WFP) Regional Bureau launched the 4th Regional Multi-stakeholder Workshop on Food Security and Nutrition on 28 April. FAO will discuss the potential of the Global Initiative on Food Loss and Waste Reduction (SAVE FOOD) and its partnerships to contribute to making food systems more sustainable while transitioning to low carbon development. A partnership session during the event has also been dedicated to the Food Loss Waste Protocol, a multi-stakeholder process to develop a global standard for how to quantify food loss and waste. Several organizations are planning international conferences and meetings throughout 2015. The SAVE FOOD initiative is helping to coordinate these conferences to ensure complementary outcomes. At the end of 2015, a joint report will be prepared, providing a global overview of the deliberations, findings and recommendations of these meetings. Read more...

The National Jogging Association of Thailand and the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific are organizing a “Run for SAVE FOOD” marathon on Sunday 10 May 2015 in Bangkok, to promote awareness of food loss and food waste issues and to demonstrate solidarity with the SAVE FOOD Campaign in Thailand, to be launched on 25 May in Bangkok. Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Agricultural Research Organization in Israel is signing a memorandum of understanding to form a partnership with the international SAVE FOOD partner World Food Preservation Center. The goal of the partnerships is to reduce post-harvest losses in developing countries. Read more...
EU-FUSIONS
Regional meetings are a good opportunity for stakeholders in the European Union’s (EU’s) Food Use for Social Innovation by Optimising Waste Prevention Strategies (FUSIONS) initiative to move the project forward and obtain insights into innovative ideas for fight food waste. The meetings are also open to non-members who want to find out more about FUSIONS. The next meeting will be held in Neuilly near Paris on 26 May. Read more...
