Closing Workshop for Project "Capacity Building for Food Loss Reduction in the Near East"

  • 2017: The main objective of TCP/SNO/3501 “Capacity Building for Food Loss Reduction in the Near East” was to implement a training and awareness-raising program to strengthen national capacity of local leaders of producer associations, food industry managers and extension personnel on good practice in food handling and improved value chain management. The participating countries are Egypt, Iran, Jordan and Lebanon whom all share the same common issues of concern for food security; food loss and waste (FLW) reduction; poverty alleviation; health and safety of the population and preservation of the natural environment. Taller nacional: Creación de capacidad para reducir las pérdida de alimentos en el Cercano Oriente y la Iniciativa mundial sobre la reducción de la pérdida y el desperdicio de alimentos

  • 2017: Bajo el patrocinio de S. E. el ministro de Agricultura, Ghazi Zeaiter, la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentación y la Agricultura (FAO) y el Ministerio de Agricultura del Líbano celebraron un taller nacional de dos días sobre la reducción de las pérdidas de alimentos el 24 y 25 de abril en el Lancaster Tamar Hotel de Beirut. En las presentaciones del taller participaron consultores técnicos nacionales de la Universidad Libanesa, coordinadores de proyectos del Ministerio de Agricultura y expertos de la FAO.     El Sudán es uno de los países seleccionados de la Iniciativa regional sobre el refuerzo de la resistencia para la seguridad alimentaria y la nutrición (RI-FSN), una de cuyas cinco áreas seleccionadas promueve el desarrollo de sistemas alimentarios sostenibles y eficientes con especial atención a la reducción de las pérdidas y el desperdicio de alimentos. 33º período de sesiones de la Conferencia Regional para el Cercano Oriente (NERC)

  • 2016: 9 - 13 de mayo, Rome, Italy.
    Las pérdidas y el desperdicio de alimentos se dan en el ámbito nacional. Los gobiernos del Cercano Oriente y África del Norte han llevado a cabo una labor concertada para reconocer la cuestión de las pérdidas y el desperdicio de alimentos, concienciar sobre su prevención y reducción y se han comprometido en actuar estratégicamente. CFS Regional Multi-stakeholder Food Security and Nutrition Workshop

  • 2015: FAO Regional Office for the Near East in collaboration with the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) is organizing a Regional Multi-Stakeholder workshop on Food Security and Nutrition, in Amman, Jordan from the 28-30th April, 2015. On the agenda is the critical issue of FL&W in the Near East and North Africa, and the emerging and planned actions among the region’s countries. A side event will see the launch and of a Regional Food Losses and Waste Network to promote knowledge, information, and experience exchange on FL&W reduction in the region. [read more]
