Bio-based Packaging: a Green Food Saver

Description: FAO Forestry Department is organizing a special event "Bio-based Packaging: a Green Food Saver" in collaboration with International Council of Forest and Paper Associations (ICFPA), Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) and other partners. The meeting will be held on 9th May 2014 at Interpack 2014 (Messe Düsseldorf). Attendance is free of charge to all delegates to Interpack - from the packaging and food industries, NGOs, consumer groups, technical and design experts, and governments. VTT (Technology Research Centre of Finland) will present a “White Paper” and raise the key issues for discussing e.g. technical, environmental and sustainable development frameworks. This event is paving the way for raising attention on international fora, and work towards an FAO-led public-private sector coalition which will work on further advancement of bio-based food packaging towards Milan Expo 2015 (one year from now). Milan Expo 2015 will be the main venue for launching the Coalition on Bio-based Packaging: a Green Food Saver.
