August 2002 New publication Global Land Cover Network
This publication contains the proceedings of the FAO/UNEP Expert Consultation on Strategies for Global Land Cover Mapping and Monitoring. The consultation was held 6-8 May in Artimino, Italy and proposed a new cooperative programme, the Global Land Cover Network (GLCN). The programme's main objective is to improve the availability of global information on land cover and to devise international standards for collection which would help improve accuracy and facilitate comparison of data.
