September 2003 Announcement of a new web site CLIMAGRImed
CLIMAGRI is oriented toward understanding the consequences of climatic variations in Italy in the agricultural sector. It aims at an in-depth understanding of the interrelationship between agricultural and climatic variations. The final objective of Climagrimed is to obtain a perfect synergy among the capabilities of the Italian Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Policies, Central Office of Agricultural Ecology (UCEA), the Italian research institutes, and FAO in order to apply the methodologies carried out within the CLIMAGRI project. These methodologies may then be adapted and applied successfully in developing countries in the Mediterranean region. FAO will use its own expertise to permit Italian researchers to adapt the methodologies to existing situations in developing countries in the Mediterranean region and to transfer this understanding found in CLIMAGRI sub-projects to national researchers. The information network and the central archives on disk at FAO will lead to the creation of a multilingual information centre and to the dissemination of results in real time, through the internet. Major publications will be translated into English and French. A professional training project for national experts completes the development of the research. (Also available in French)
