Analysis of documents in the area of decentralized and participative rural development

This document updates a publication prepared in 1997 which was the result of a literature review in the area of decentralization and rural development of FAO and other international organizations' (e.g. World Bank, IFAD) publications.

As part of the series "Decentralization and rural development" this publication is a collection of documents mainly produced for or by FAO and has been compiled through interviews with various officers within the organization. It provides the sources of 89 texts which are regrouped according to several sub themes:

I: Training, extension, research
II: Land management
III: Municipalities, rural development
IV: Decentralized planning, institutional restructuring, agricultural management systems
V: Special Programme for food security, poverty, employment
VI and VII: People's participation
VIII: Role of the region, local development programmes, rural communities
