A new capacity building strategy for rural development: Spending on activities or investing in results?

The authors argue that many of the problems plaguing agricultural workers in Latin America could be solved by those same workers if provided with appropriate technical and entrepreneurial capacity building skills. This article incorporates the analysis of rural development specialists in Latin America gathered through an informal electronic conference. About 230 development professionals in the region shared their expertise and experiences.
