April 2003 Announcement of new publications New Publications from the Regional Workshop for Designing and Implementing Multimedia Communication Strategies and National Communication PoliciesThe Regional Workshop for Designing and Implementing Multimedia Communication Strategies and National Communication Policies took place in Niamey, Niger, in April 2002. The Workshop was attended by approximately fifty participants from the thirteen countries that make up the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), namely: Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal and Togo. The following publications related to this Workshop are now available:
FAO's ten-year experience in designing sectorial strategies and national communication for development policies in French- and Portuguese-speaking Africa is documented in these publications. Particular attention is given to four countries who have already designed national communication for development policies (Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger and Guinea Bissau). The publications present the current status of communication for development policies, the lessons learned and the methodological tools used. They are available in French and in English. We hope they will contribute to the sharing of experiences between ECOWAS member states, as well as inspiring other African countries. FAO's Extension, Education and Communication Service organized the Niamey workshop, the Service provides member countries with technical support in the design of multimedia strategies and national communication for development policies.
