Case study 22

by the Communication for Development Group
Extension, Education and Communication Service
FAO Research, Extension and Training Dicvision

In collaboration with:

PROJECT FPA/CMR/903/FPA
Community information, education and communication
in the area of reproductive health, Cameroon

After having undergone a thorough review of reproductive health programmes, a ranking of reproductive health factors was produced, in keeping with concepts defined at the national level. An analysis was conducted of the structures responsible for putting in place information, education and communication strategies.

In order to meet the challenges of implementation, harmonization and coordination of the new policies, the creation of a National Committee for information, education and communication of reproductive health issues was advised. This Committee would be responsible for coordinating implementation of the national strategies and all other activities falling under this area. The Committee would be created within the Ministry for Public Health and a technical branch of the Committee would be formed to ensue the successful implementation of policies.
