Rural radio

This site is an illustration of FAO's recognition of rural radio as an important medium available to rural communities, providing them with access to useful information and knowledge, and allowing them to share experience, knowledge and techniques.

Rural radio is a vital communication tool, particularly in Africa. Created and established more than three decades ago, this form of radio has become increasingly familiar, loved and used by the local populations. It promotes the exchange of views, brings people closer together, stimulates information, and enhances the value of local know-how.
