This paper focuses on "Measuring the Impacts of HIV/AIDS on Rural Livelihoods and Food Security" as a necessary step in the development, monitoring and evaluation of initiatives from the agriculture sector to mitigate the impact of the epidemic. Using the sustainable livelihoods framework, the document proposes a set of indicators to measure the impacts of HIV/AIDS on rural households and food security. It discusses their relevance in the implementation of FAO's agriculture sector strategy to counter the negative effects of the epidemic.
