The incidence of undernutrition is
the percentage of the population that lacks access to enough food to meet
dietary energy supply (DES) requirements (in Calories). Although the proportion
of the world's population that is chronically undernourished is expected
to decrease, as it has done over the last few decades, undernutrition is
still widespread, particularly in certain regions. Furthermore, projections
to the year 2010 suggest that little change in the absolute number of chronically
undernourished people is likely unless determined, concerted action is
taken. | ||
