Ms. Samlee is a 65 years old blind lady. She is very happy that she can get some income from cloth weaving. Although she stays alone in her house, she has many friends around her who encourage her and socialize with her
Mr. Khai is a 55 years old blind man who picks his mushrooms every morning to sell to the neighborhood. He has been trained through CBR field workers for orientation and mobility, and how to set up and manage a mushroom farm.
Cast out of her family because of leprosy: While no official statistics exist, all disability organisations have case files of women with disabilities who have been subjected to domestic violence
In May 1997, FAO organized a Regional Roundtable Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand to develop a strategy for the integration of the disabled into agricultural and agro-industry systems in which UN agencies, NGOs and representatives from key groups representing the disabled participated.
