World AIDS Day fact sheet

This fact sheet was distributed to the delegates and participants at the World AIDS Day side event to the 32nd session of the FAO Conference (29 November – 10 December 2003). The objective of the event was to examine how the HIV/AIDS epidemic might impede the attainment of the World Food Summit objectives and the first Millennium Development Goal (MDG) in highly affected countries, and to identify opportunities and discuss innovative approaches to address the epidemic from the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors. The event comprised an HIV/AIDS update by UNAIDS and a keynote presentation by FAO, followed by an open discussion.
