TEMS (Terrestrial Ecosystem Monitoring Sites database)
The New TEMS database is now on line. The Terrestrial Ecosystem Monitoring Sites database (TEMS) is an international directory of sites (T.Sites) and networks that carry out long-term terrestrial monitoring and research activities. Based on a core list of 110 variables, the database provides information on the "who, what and where" of long term terrestrial monitoring for use by both the scientific... more

Wetlands Monitoring by ERS Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Data in Zambia
| The objectives of the study presented in this paper were: to assess the suitability of European Remote Sensing Satellite (ERS) Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images in monitoring the seasonal changes of the wetland areas and to carry out a comparison of the results obtained from both ERS SAR and NOAA AVHRR data. | A methodology for monitoring wetlands for fisheries using NOAA AVHRR LAC thermal data |
Frequent baseline data on wetlands are essential for assessing fishery potential and for a host of hydrologic and environmental applications. Remote sensing is the only tool which can be used to provide those data at frequent intervals and economically. Thus an operative methodology based on the thermal inertia difference between dry and wet lands has been developed from NOAA (National Oceanic and... more
