The Handbook is addressed to officials, trainers and development agents involved in agricultural policy-making, agricultural planning and programmes. This manual draws attention on the importance of considering gender not as a purely social issue, but rather as a fundamental part of policy-making and implementation, thus deserving explicit investigation. This handbook shows through case studies in countries like Costa Rica, Uganda or Guinea, how to mainstream gender analysis in agricultural sector policies or programs through institutional analysis, baseline gender analysis of the sector, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation.
