This publication provides information on planting dates, seed rates and other basic information related to crop production in the Latin America and Caribbean countries and is to be used in planning and management of activities related to seeds and crops, in particular in the timely provision of seeds to vulnerable farmers after disasters. Seed must be available for planting by farmers at the right time, in sufficient quantity and appropriate quality of varieties adapted to the particular agroecological zone where they are to be grown. A detailed knowledge of the planting periods in the different agricultural areas of a country is critical to the success of seed relief activities to boost food supply and create food security.
