The purpose of book is to provides nutrition and related-health recommendations to the general population nad promote appropriate diets and healthy lifestyles. It is a tool for nutrition education and behaviour change to be used by health providers, teachers, extension agents and others working directly with the public. Information focuses on common foods, portion sizes, and behaviours using language and symbols that the public can easily understand. Each country should develop its own set of guidelines because differences in lifestyles, cultures and public health priorities can exist between countries.
