The objective of this publication is to improve forest planning and management in the drylands of the region, so as to contribute to the well-being of local populations and enhance their social, cultural, environmental and economic benefits. These guidelines are intended to support those responsible for planning and managing forests and related resources in addressing the complex and inter-related issues and drivers behind forest degradation and desertification.
