This module presents the International Treaty and its main components in the context of the broader legal framework governing crop diversity. It shows how the International Treaty has been set up to cope with global challenges such as food security, climate change and the loss of crop diversity. The module provides learners with key concepts and historical background, through lessons that are specifically designed for newcomers to the biodiversity policy area. This work constitutes a comprehensive introduction to the International Treaty. This module is tailored to the following learner groups: policy makers, farmers'organizations, plant breeders, Academia.
