Can SEAGA be applied to any country?
SEAGA was developed by gender and technical specialists with several years of field experience in various countries. Thus the tools, concepts, principles and strategies were designed to take into account regional and national differences and to be easily adapted to local differences.
How does SEAGA work?
SEAGA conducts mainly three types of workshops:
- sensitisation workshops that are aimed at increasing awareness of gender issues;
- training of trainer's workshops that are aimed at training other trainers in socio-economic and gender analysis;
- technical workshops that integrate socio-economic and gender analysis into a specific sector or issue, for example irrigation, micro-finance. etc.
Can anyone take part in a SEAGA workshop?
The SEAGA programme responds to national (government) requests for capacity building in socio-economic and gender analysis. In some cases SEAGA has held workshops for development institutions, however these institutions sponsore the workshops.
The SEAGA programme does not hold training courses for private individuals. However, for the first time, this year, through a network of Latin American institutions based in Brazil (REDCAPA), the SEAGA programme held a internet course on "Socio-economic and Gender Analysis". The course was opened to all. SEAGA hopes to continue these types of long distance courses, giving individuals the opportunity to take part in a SEAGA training.
Information on upcoming SEAGA long distance courses will be announced in the SEAGA Newsletter.
How can I obtain a copy of the SEAGA publications and what is the cost?
