Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS)

Asian and Pacific Coconut Community (APCC)
Provides background information on the establishment and functions of APCC, as well as its composition, structure and publications.

Association of Caribbean States (ACS)
The ACS facilitates consultation, co-operation and concerted action among its Member States and Associate Members. The Member States of the ACS are Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.

Caribbean Banana Exporters Association (CBEA)
The Commonwealth Banana Exporters Association was formed in 1972 to bring together the Banana Growers' Associations in Jamaica and the Windward Islands (Dominica, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Grenada) who were the traditional suppliers to the UK market. Following the Lomé Convention Agreement in 1975 the Commonwealth Banana Exporters Association changed its name to the Caribbean Banana Exporters Association (CBEA) and was expanded in due course to include Belize and Surinam.

Caribbean Community Secretariat (CARICOM)
The Caribbean Community has three objectives:  (a) economic cooperation through the Caribbean Common Market;  (b) coordination of foreign policy among the independent Member States: and (c) common services and cooperation in functional matters such as health, education and culture, communications and industrial relations.

Centre for South Pacific Studies (CSPS)
The Centre for South Pacific Studies collects, collates and distributes information from a diversity of disciplines in printed and electronic form about the peoples and places of the Pacific islands.

CLIMWAT: a Climatic Database for CROPWAT
CLIMWAT is a climatic database to be used in combination with the computer program CROPWAT and allows the ready calculation of crop water requirements, irrigation supply and irrigation scheduling for various crops for a range of climatological stations worldwide.

DAD-IS: Domestic Animal Diversity Information System
DAD-IS is the key communication and information tool for implementing the Global Strategy for the Management of Farm Animal Genetic Resources (AnGR). It is being developed first to assist countries and country networks, and also serves as the virtual structure for the Strategy. It will increasingly provide extensive searchable databases, tools, guidelines, a library, links and contacts.

FAO Country Profiles and Mapping Information System
The FAO Country Profiles and Mapping Information System is a pioneering information retrieval tool which groups the organization's vast archive of information on its global activities in agriculture and development in a single area and catalogues it exclusively by country.

FAO Fishery Country Profiles
FAO's Fisheries Department prepares and publishes Fishery Country Profiles (FCP). Each FCP summarizes the Department's assessment of activities and trends in fisheries and aquaculture for the country concerned. The profiles have a standard layout. Economic and demographic data are based on UN or World Bank sources; data on fisheries are generally those published by the FAO Fisheries Department.

South Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP)
SPREP is a regional organisation established by the governments and administrations of the Pacific region to look after its environment. SPREP’s members total 26, consisting of all 22 Pacific island countries and territories, and four developed countries with direct interests in the region: Australia, France, New Zealand and the United States of America.

South Pacific Regional Initiative on Forest Genetic Resources (SPRIG)
SPRIG is a 3-year pilot project involving Fiji, Tonga, Vanuatu, Samoa and Solomons Islands and funded by the Australian Agency for International Development.

UNEP ISLANDS Web Site
This site, assembled by UN system-wide Earthwatch Coordination of the United Nations Environment Programme, provides access to a number of resources concerning islands, primarily from within the United Nations system, that are otherwise rather scattered and difficult to obtain. It includes basic UN documents or extracts from documents relevant to islands, educational materials concerning islands, and a directory listing some 2,000 islands and giving their basic geographic, environmental and socio-economic characteristics.
