The PRE-COP26 Side Event “Holding climate actions accountable to the rural poor: knowledge gaps and evidence generation to foster inclusive climate actions and transformational change” took place on 29 September 2021 from 14:00 to 15:30 (CEST).

The event brought together experts from FAO, IFAD, academia, climate financing institutions, and the donor community to discuss the critical knowledge gaps hindering more inclusive and transformational climate actions in rural spaces. Through a combination of presentations and panel discussions, the event explored rigorous approaches for filling key evidence gaps around climate adaptation and mitigation investments in rural spaces, and highlighted the importance of embedding rigorous evidence generation strategies into global climate financing mechanisms to foster more inclusive and sustainable climate actions.
