With more than 120 million people worldwide dependent on fisheries and aquaculture for their livelihoods – and another 1.6 billion on forests – this article by FAO colleagues featured in a special issue of IPC Policy in Focus Magazine sheds light on the reasons why adequate social protection is considered today as a key instrument to overcome the specific vulnerabilities of these communities, contributing to reducing poverty and economic growth.
