How can agriculture and social protection work together to reduce poverty and hunger?

During the From Protection to Production (PtoP) Regional Workshop “Strengthening Coherence between Agriculture and Social Protection” in Cape Town, November 2014, we sat down with Edmond Odaba (African Platform for Social Protection), Mary Nyamongo (African Institute for Health and Development) and Stephen Devereux (Institute of Development Studies) to discuss how is coherence between agriculture and social protection important in reducing poverty and malnutrition.

Workshop organized by FAO with support from UNICEF and in collaboration with the African Institute for Health and Development (AIHD), the Africa Platform for Social Protection (APSP), the African Union (AU), New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD), World Food Programme (WFP), and the World Bank. This workshop has received funding from the European Union through the “Improved Global Governance for Hunger Reduction Programme”.
