What issues need to be addressed to bring together agriculture and social protection?

During the From Protection to Production (PtoP) Regional Workshop “Strengthening Coherence between Agriculture and Social Protection” in Cape Town, November 2014, we sat down with Edmond Odaba (African Platform for Social Protection), Mary Nyamongo (African Institute for Health and Development), Manzunzu Zulu (Zambia’s Ministry of Community, Development, Mother and Child Health) and Stephen Devereux (Institute of Development Studies) to discuss the issues to be addressed when bringing together agriculture and social protection.

Workshop organized by FAO with support from UNICEF and in collaboration with the African Institute for Health and Development (AIHD), the Africa Platform for Social Protection (APSP), the African Union (AU), New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD), World Food Programme (WFP), and the World Bank. This workshop has received funding from the European Union through the “Improved Global Governance for Hunger Reduction Programme”.
