FAO is enhancing the capacity of internal and external partners on the development, assessment and use of analytical tools to inform social protection policies and programmes design linking them to broader agricultural, food security and nutrition, and rural development strategies. FAO efforts also target rural organizations and institutions to develop their capacities in providing access to social protection, credits, markets and resources with the final aim of improving rural people’s productivity.

Facilitating the exchange of experience and expertise among countries with a specific attention to fostering South–South cooperation is also among the key objective of FAO capacity development around social protection.
