Soil information provides a base for sustainable soil management, development of soil policies and plans, and for assessing vulnerabilities and calculating the risks associated to soil functions. The Global Soil Information System (GloSIS) and associated Global Capacity Building Programme, the Global Soil Laboratory Network (GLOSOLAN) and the Latin American Soil Information System (SISLAC) will help supply crucial and comparable soil data at global level.
