Monitoring & Evaluation and Impact Assessment

Information on impact of national programmes for food security and related projects is becoming increasingly needed for decision making at both national and global levels. Therefore, increased attention needs to be put on the effective implementation of M&E processes and result-based approaches.

As part of the continuous support provided to national and regional programmes for food security,  M&E and Impact Assessment unit has been set up within the FAO Food Security Support Service to ensure that appropriate support is provided to the countries. The services provided by the team are mainly:

  1. Technical assistance to food security programmes and related projects on specific M&E issues;
  2. Support the monitoring of progress made by countries and regions against food security targets and commitments;
  3. Facilitate knowledge sharing, communication and learning on successful food security experiences;
  4. Capacity building on M&E and impact assessment
