How RPFS Works

Regional Programmes are developed in partnership with the appropriate regional economic group, FAO Member Nations’ Governments and numerous other key actors such as donors, regional associations, civil society organizations and universities. Funding for finalized projects usually comes from the FAO Trust Fund for Food Security or from grants made by FAO's Technical Cooperation Programme.

Once operational, Regional Programmes are usually managed by a project management unit comprised of a regional project coordinator and an assistant coordinator. A regional project steering committee consists of a donor representative and country representatives. This committee oversees the project and ensures transparency and the correct allocation of funds.
